Japan 2008: Day 11: May 09

kyoto. whee.

first impressions:
tokyo was cleaner. the air was nicer. a lot more foreigners are here… but kyoto is kyoto. there are shrines and temples everywhere u look and there is so much to see just within the city, if u like shrines and parks and stuff, of course.

today we walked along the higashiyama paths visiting a number of popular and smaller temples/shrines. first stop was the kiyomizu that had large pagodas and a veranda that dropped sharply on one side. for some reason we were pretty cheap today and didn’t pay for any admissions… although i heard it was worth it, afterwards.

we walked along a street that was known for its pottery and ceramics, but we didnt buy any :P… it was a lot of walking, a lot of different places that sorta look the same… parks, and stuff.

stopped over at chion-in temple, which was a very peaceful place. after we left it was already pretty late and we ended up in a library for a couple minutes, cause everything else was closed 😛

we then went to explore and search for a sushi place, that was mentioned in leon’s book, musashi sushi. along the way, we found a 100Â¥ shop and browsed… and another graniph store for more tshirts 😛

the sushi place was pretty good, 137Â¥ a plate (another rotating belt place) not enough unagi tho 😀 we just walked around a bit afterwards, looking at random shops, and i finally found my carp flags! whee…

got back at a decent time and talked to ross about some places to visit. they were having problems of their own tho. their cash card suddenly, after several several months, the PIN changed. that sucks for them :S… they were heading back to tokyo with no cash… anyways, michelle somehow stayed out and met ppl within the hostel but came in and woke them up… despite my snoring. lol

zzz… not too much interesting things happened today, so the entry is a bit short… chotto mijikai desu ne~

leon doing something weird and michelle on the steps leading towards……… chion-in temple

some wayfinding in a library, optima! (i’ve spotted it a lot on this trip!)

i’m getting slower and slower at writing these things cause i’d rather sleep 😛
